SVP, General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer
Darcy is a partner and member of Canoe’s executive team, responsible for defining and executing the firm’s legal and compliance strategy. His legal and compliance career spans over 30 years. Prior to joining Canoe, Darcy spent 14 years with BMO Financial Group. During his tenure at BMO, he held progressively senior leadership positions, and served as Chief Compliance Officer for BMO Global Asset Management, BMO Mutual Funds and BMO Nesbitt Burns. Earlier in Darcy’s career he practiced financial services and securities law at Dentons, a global law firm, and at TD Securities.
Darcy is the former Chair of the Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada (MFDA) Policy Advisory Committee, and of the Investment Funds Institute of Canada Legal and Compliance Committee. He served as a judge for the MFDA Disciplinary Tribunal for nine years. Darcy currently serves as a member of the Alberta Securities Commission Exempt Market Dealer Advisory Committee, and as a trustee for the Williams Treaty Settlement Trust on behalf of his First Nation.
Darcy holds a Juris Doctor degree (J.D.) and a Bachelor of Commerce degree (B.Com.) from the University of Toronto, and is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Alberta Law Society.
